ADVANCED USE TIPS

::WORKING ONLY WITH THE SCULPTS WE NEED::

We've read the following in the "THE CONFIGURATION TOOL, IN DETAIL" section, "SCULPT PRIMS: WHAT ABOUT THEM?" subsection:

«This "[Black Tulip] Configure Doors v2 + SCULPTS" script will save sculpt prim data for ANY PRIM that is sculpted. You may want only a few of them. You should manually REMOVE the sculpt data from the prims that are sculpts, but that are NOT meant to swap the sculpt map. Or you can use the tip explained under the "ADVANCED USE TIPS" section.»

We're covering here how to proceed.

In order to follow this section and get the most from it, you have to understand perfectly the "[Black Tulip] Door Controller v2 ~CFG~" notecard format. Review the «THE "[Black Tulip] Door Controller v2 ~CFG~" NOTECARD FORMAT, IN DETAIL» section for all the details.

Let's refer to our finished build as "FB", before adding any scripts or notecards, but AFTER having given the correct NAMES to the prims.

SHIFT Copy to duplicate it. Let's rename this duplicate FB-COPY.

Edit FB-COPY so the only prims left are:

  • The root - Make sure the root continues to be the root!
  • The sculpt prims you want to swap

Do not move them closer or anything. Leave them in the same position they are in your FB complete build!

Now do the configuration process over the FB build. Use the normal "[Black Tulip] Configure Doors v2" script. Confirm and save the data.

Follow the configuration process over the FB-COPY build using the "[Black Tulip] Configure Doors v2 + SCULPTS" script. Confirm and save the data.

All that's left to do is to replace the data for the sculpt prims that we've obtained in FB, with that we've obtained in FB-COPY.

Make sure the prims are correct in the output data! You can check this bit by checking that the configuration tool has renamed the sculpt prims of interest the same way in both builds. Otherwise, rename appropriately in the notecard.

::BYPASSING THE CONFIGURATION TOOL LIMITS UNTIL REACHING THE CONTROLLER LIMITS::

We achieve this by working with two copies of our build. What we will do is configure a subset of the doors in each copy, and then combine them for the final build.

So we have our finished build, FB, prior to adding any scripts or notecards, but after having given the correct names to the prims.

SHIFT Copy to duplicate the build once. Rename this first duplicate as FB-COPY-1

SHIFT Copy to duplicate the build again. Rename this second duplicate as FB-COPY-2

Decide the subset of doors you want to set in FB-COPY-1 and list ONLY THOSE in the "[Black Tulip] Configure Doors v2 ~CFG~" notecard.

Drop the "[Black Tulip] Configure Doors v2" together with the notecard in FB-COPY-1

Configure that build, confirm, save the data.

Then list the doors NOT SET in FB-COPY-1 in the "[Black Tulip] Configure Doors v2 ~CFG~" notecard for FB-COPY-2

Drop the "[Black Tulip] Configure Doors v2" together with the notecard in FB-COPY-2

Configure that build, confirm, save the data.

Copy the data of both builds together in a "[Black Tulip] Door Controller v2 ~CFG~" notecard.

Now edit the main build, FB.

Drop the "[Black Tulip] Configure Doors v2 ~CFG~" notecard and the auxiliary "[Black Tulip] Configure Doors v2 - RENAME ONLY" script. This renames the prims automatically in the main build and self deleted (together with the configuration notecard).

Now you can use the composed notecard from the two separated parts of the build that you've set before, and drop the controller :-)

IMPORTANT: Should you need to restore data to modify a finished build, you will have to restore data separately into FB-COPY-1 and FB-COPY-2, then repeat the procedure explained above. Otherwise, you'll hit the memory issue that led you to need doing this in the first place.

NOTE: You may opt for a different procedure instead of the explained above. You may just make ONE copy of the build, and in the "[Black Tulip] Configure Doors v2 ~CFG~" notecard, you don't define all of the doors, but just a subset, and configure those. Since confirming will rename prims in your build, that makes you safely be able of using now the "[Black Tulip] Configure Doors v2 ~CFG~" notecard, this time, with the remaining subset of doors, then confirming again.
